​Government of India Act, 1935: This act is the most significant source, with a large number of provisions directly adopted. These include the federal scheme, the office of the governor, the judiciary, the Public Service Commissions, emergency provisions, and administrative details.

​British Constitution: India adopted the parliamentary system of government, the rule of law, legislative procedures, single citizenship, the cabinet system, and bicameralism. The five prerogative writs (Habeas Corpus, Mandamus, Certiorari, Quo Warranto, and Prohibition) were also borrowed from the British system.

​US Constitution: Key features from the US Constitution include the Fundamental Rights, the independence of the judiciary, judicial review, the impeachment of the President, and the post of Vice-President.
