 Violence – Definition and Topology (English)

Violence can be defined as the intentional use of physical force, power, or psychological pressure against oneself, another person, a group, or a community, which results in or has a high likelihood of resulting in injury, death, psychological harm, deprivation, or neglect. It is not limited to physical harm alone but also includes emotional, social, economic, and structural forms of abuse. The topology of violence can be understood in different categories. Physical violence involves direct bodily harm such as hitting, killing, or torture. Psychological violence refers to threats, intimidation, humiliation, and emotional abuse. Sexual violence includes forced sexual acts, harassment, or exploitation. Economic violence means the denial of resources, opportunities, or economic independence. Structural or systemic violence occurs when social, political, or economic structures create inequality, discrimination, and marginalization. This topology helps us understand violence as a multidimensional phenomenon that extends beyond visible physical harm.

हिंसा को परिभाषित किया जा सकता है कि यह शक्ति, शारीरिक बल या मानसिक दबाव का ऐसा जानबूझकर किया गया प्रयोग है जो स्वयं पर, किसी व्यक्ति, समूह या समुदाय पर किया जाता है और जिसके परिणामस्वरूप या संभावित रूप से चोट, मृत्यु, मानसिक पीड़ा, वंचना या उपेक्षा हो सकती है। हिंसा केवल शारीरिक हानि तक सीमित नहीं होती, बल्कि इसमें भावनात्मक, सामाजिक, आर्थिक और संरचनात्मक स्तर पर किया गया उत्पीड़न भी शामिल है। हिंसा के प्रकार (Topology) को कई श्रेणियों में समझा जा सकता है। शारीरिक हिंसा में सीधे शरीर को चोट पहुँचाना, मारना, हत्या या यातना शामिल है। मनोवैज्ञानिक हिंसा में धमकी देना, डराना, अपमानित करना या मानसिक रूप से प्रताड़ित करना आता है। यौन हिंसा में जबरन यौन संबंध, उत्पीड़न या शोषण शामिल है। आर्थिक हिंसा तब होती है जब संसाधनों, अवसरों या आर्थिक स्वतंत्रता से वंचित किया जाता है। संरचनात्मक या तंत्रगत हिंसा तब होती है जब सामाजिक, राजनीतिक या आर्थिक ढाँचे असमानता, भेदभाव और हाशिए पर ले आते हैं। इस प्रकार, हिंसा का स्वरूप बहुआयामी है और यह केवल प्रत्यक्ष शारीरिक आघात तक सीमित नहीं है।
